Fresh out of the Oven!!!

A delight for the ears. A feast for the eyes. Though it's no bigger than a pack of playing cards and weighs in at just over 6 ounces, iPod Photo delivers a one-two sensory punch. Letting you carry an entire library of your favorite music — up to 15,000 songs — or enough photos — as many as 25,000 — to fill nearly 200 slide trays or cover nearly 5,000 square feet of wall space. Got a really big den?

The newest member of the iPod family, iPod Photo comes in two sizes: a 40GB model, available for $499, and a capacious 60GB model that sells for $599. Both feature a razor sharp LCD display that lets you see your photos in vivid color — 65,536 colors, to be exact. And with its built-in backlighting, you’ll be able to admire those photos indoors or out.

Take Your Photos for a Spin
Like its famous siblings, iPod Photo features the touch-sensitive Apple Click Wheel that's the envy of the industry. You'll use it to navigate iPod Photo's new menu. Now in living color, its easier to read than ever. That's thanks in part to the clarity of the display — it offers 220x176-pixel resolution — and in part to the new Myriad typeface. Spin the wheel to Music, and you can scroll effortlessly through dozens of playlists, hundreds of albums or thousand of songs.

Enjoy Improved Battery Life
Whether you’re on a transcontinental flight or an extra long hike, if you plan to listen to music for hours and hours, iPod Photo has you covered. Fully charged, it lets you enjoy up to 15 hours of continuous music; or up to 5 hours of continuous slideshows with music. Use the FireWire or USB 2.0 cables to quickly charge the batteries. Or use the iPod Photo Dock that comes with both 40GB and 60GB models

As an extra special treat, it includes an iTunes Music Store coupon you can use to get $50 off your purchase of “The Complete U2.” As unique as the iPod itself, this digital boxed set brings together an amazing 400 U2 tracks. Songs span the band’s celebrated career. Digitally Bohemian... with the new Bose series

CNET Rating: 8 out of 10

The good: Simple to set up and use; attractive design; sounds impressive compared to other iPod speakers; charges iPod while docked; includes basic remote.

The bad: Expensive; works only with iPods (and iPod Minis) equipped with a docking connector.

The bottom line: If you don't mind the high price, the SoundDock will turn your iPod into a nice bedroom or office stereo system.

Est. street price: S$539 (US$318.75)

Note: In Asia, the SoundDock will be available for purchase only through Apple stores and Bose showrooms.

The long-awaited SoundDock from Bose! Get ready for even bigger sonic crunch time with your iPod or iPod Mini.

Whatever happened to our LCD monitor? We think it probably sneaked off to sulk in a corner.

Review:
The huge popularity of the iPod has given rise to a cottage industry of iPod accessories, including various speakers that help turn your iPod into a boombox. With Apple's blessing, Bose has entered the world of iPod with its SoundDock "digital music system," a S$539 (US$318.75) stereo speaker designed to work with dockable iPods.

Design
Bose's SoundDock is a compact and elegantly designed product that comes in just one color--white--though it works just fine with whatever color iPod Mini you might have. The speaker ships with adapters for the Mini and the various generations of iPod (the only incompatible models are the first two iPods, which lack the dock connector on the underside). You simply pop the adapter in the SoundDock's cradle, plug in the power cord, drop your iPod in the cradle (it's a digital connection), and you're good to go.
Also included in the box is a small, very basic, credit card-style remote that allows you to advance and rewind tracks on your iPod, control its volume, and shut off the unit (the iPod automatically turns on and the battery charges when you dock it).

Performance
The SoundDock performed better than we expected. It easily filled our 5.48 x 3.04m room with a big sound, but stereo separation was nada until we moved to a position within three feet of the speaker. The near-field sound also enhanced the little system's bass and treble definition.

A series of duets between jazz guitarist Charlie Hunter and drummer Bobby Previte on their Come in Red Dog CD sounded surprisingly live. Previte's bass drum had lots of kick, and his cymbals' crisp detail added to the realism of the sound. Hunter plays bass and guitar simultaneously on his eight-string instrument, and the SoundDock delineated every note. The Bose's richly balanced bass goes a long way toward mimicking the weighty presence of a larger speaker.

Rocking out with John Mellencamp's greatest hits once again proved the little system's stamina. Yes, a decent home-theater system will deliver even more satisfying sound and real stereo separation, but it will take up a lot more space than the little SoundDock. If you're considering Altec Lansing's InMotion microspeaker set, which also hosts iPods, that travel-friendly unit is almost half the price S$229 (US$135.42), but the Bose plays louder and has deeper bass and clearer treble.

Our biggest gripe with the SoundDock is its lack of inputs, which means that you can't connect anything to it besides an iPod. Ideally, a speaker accessory costing S$539 (US$318.75) would be a little more flexible. Also, it'd be nice if the SoundDock, like Tivoli Audio's iPAL, had a built-in rechargeable battery, making it a truly cordless speaker that you could place anywhere. That said, the Bose SoundDock is the best-sounding iPod speaker accessory we've tested to date, and it would be well suited for use in an office, a bedroom, or a small living room.

Rant post:

"To know, is to know that you know nothing. That is the meaning of true knowledge; thus real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance."

"Form is emptiness, and emptiness is form."

"The process of practice is to see through, not to eliminate, anything to which we are attached. We could have great financial wealth and be unattached to it, or we have nothing and be very attached to having nothing. Usually, if we have seen through the nature of attachment, we will have a tendency to have few possessions, but not necessarily. Most practice gets caught in this area of fiddling with our environments or our minds. "My mind should be quiet". Our mind doesn't matter; what matters is non attachment to the activities of the mind. And our emotions are harmless unless they dominate us that is, if we are attached to them ---then they create dis-harmony for everyone. The first problem in practice is to see that we are attached. As we do consistent, patient zazen we begin to know that we are nothing but attachments; they rule our lives. But we never lose an attachment by saying it has to go. Only as we gain true awareness of its true nature does it quietly and imperceptibly wither away; like a sandcastle with waves rolling over, it just smoothes out and finally Where is it? What was it? - nothing."

vamp
You are Form 9, Vampire: The Undying.

"And The Vampire was all that remained on
the blood drowned creation. She attempted to
regrow life from the dead. But as she was
about to give the breath of life, she was
consumed in the flame of The Phoenix and the
cycle began again."

Some examples of the Vampire Form are Hades (Greek)
and Isis (Egyptian).
The Vampire is associated with the concept of
death, the number 9, and the element of fire.
Her sign is the eclipsed moon.

As a member of Form 9, you are a very realistic
individual. You may be a little idealistic,
but you are very grounded and down to earth.
You realize that not everything lasts, but you
savor every minute of the good times. While
you may sometimes find yourself lonely, you
have strong ties with people that will never be
broken. Vampires are the best friends to have
because they are sensible.

American Gods by Neil Gaiman

Reposting a post by Gen,

You have no idea what I can believe...

I can believe things that are true and I can believe things that aren't true and I can believe things where nobody knows if they're true or not.

I can believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny and Marilyn Monroe and the Beatles and Elvis and Mister Ed.

Listen-- I believe that people are perfectable, that knowledge is infinite, that the world is run by secret banking cartels and is visited by aliens on a regular basis, nice ones that look like wrinkledy lemurs and bad ones who mutilate cattle and want our water and our women.

I believe that the future sucks and I believe that the future rocks and I believe that one day White Buffalo Woman is going to come back and kick everyone's ass.

I believe that all men are just overgrown boys with deep problems communicating and that the decline in good sex in America is coincident with the decline in drive-in movie theatres from state to state.

I believe that all politicians are unprincipled crooks and I still believe that they are better than the alternative.

I believe that California is going to sink into the sea when the big one comes, while Florida is going to dissolve into madness and alligators and toxic waste.

I believe that antibacterial soap is destroying our resistance to dirt and disease so that one day we'll all be wiped out by the common cold like the Martians in War of the Worlds.

I believe that the greatest poets of the last century were Edith Sitwell and Don Marquis, that jade is dried dragon sperm, that thousands of years ago in a former life I was a one-armed Siberian shaman.

I believe that mankind's destiny lies in the stars.

I believe that candy really did taste better when I was a kid, that it's aerodynamically impossible for a bumblebee to fly, that light is a wave and a particle, that there's a cat in a box somewhere who's alive and dead at the same time (although if they don't ever open the box to feed it it'll eventually just be two different kinds of dead), and that there are stars in the universe billions of years older than the universe itself.

I believe in a personal god who cares about me and worries and oversees everything I do.

I believe in an impersonal god who set the universe in motion and went off to hang with her girlfriends and doesn't even know that I'm alive.

I believe in an empty and godless universe of causal chaos, background noise, and sheer blind luck.

I believe that anyone who claims to know what's going on will lie about the little things too.

I believe in absolute honesty and sensible social lies.

I believe in a woman's right to choose, a baby's right to live, that while all human life is sacred there's nothing wrong with the death penalty if you can trust the legal system implicitly, and that no one but a moron would ever trust the legal system.

I believe that life is a game, that life is a cruel joke, that life is what happens when you're alive and that you might as well lie back and enjoy it.

Bits N Pieces

Sigh... it's Friday and as usual, I've nowhere to go. Time is really crawling when it gets nearer to 6pm... what shall I do later? Maybe pop down to HMV to see if I can get any CDs of Chitose Hajime? oh well, life suxx

-------------------------------------------------

Went to Cinenow yesterday evening to talk with one of the partners, think he's willing to offer me a job but the work he wants me to do for a start seem so BORING. As he explained to me, I'm required to come up with a checklist for setting up/ deployment of new dispenser machines and server. This part I think I should be able to manage but then he also wants me to do a proper documentation for the dispenser machines and servers (it was imported from Italy and didn't come with any documentations).. I thought I would be doing something more hands on, more technical stuff. Oh well, I've gotto start somewhere right? Maybe I'm just being fussy about all this.. maybe I just think too highly of myself. Anyways will have to go down again tomorrow afternoon for another round of talk. Geez, its just a job.. and all these talks never seem get me anywhere.. always the same questions asked, same things explained.. maybe they're just testing my patience.

I told 2 ppl at 10AM that I'm planning to resign and now it seems that everyone there knows about my plan.. heh can't wait to see my boss' reaction when he finds out about it from other ppl and not me.

So it's more or less settled, I'll tender my resignation the week after my birthday and then see if I can get this Cinenow job. If not, I've also made plans with my colleague (dunno if he's really going to tender also but from the way he sounds, think he's really tempted to leave as well) which is to quit together and join a competitor as freelance/full-time. So at least if the Cinenow job falls thru, I'll still have a backup. and not lying at home everyday doing nothing, totally no income at all.

-------------------------------------------------

Went HMV at citylink just now, found the Chitose Hajime album.. but it cost a whooping $69!!! *bling bling* !! I'll have to find other alternative ways to get this.. :(

-------------------------------------------------

Qn: How do you know when you don't like someone anymore?
Ans: When you can no longer look them in the eyes when you talk to them.

Happened to me just now, went dinner with a fren but realised that no matter what, I can never look her in the face when I talk to her.. not even during dinner. That's so bad.. guess I'll never go out with her again.

2046

2046

THE ORIGINS OF THE MOVIE

What does the number "2046" mean?
In 1997, when Hong Kong returned to China, Hong Kong was told that
everything would remain unchanged for 50 years. 2046 would be the
last year of this promise. Director Wong was fascinated by the
promise and the number. He wondered what kind of love story it would be
if it were mixed with the number. He also asked himself what in this
world would remain unchanged. In our daily lives, when we fall in
love, we often ask ourselves, "Would he/she remain faithful?
Would I remain the same?"
The film 2046 begins with this number.

Directed by one of Hong Kong's most renowned filmmakers, Wong Kar Wai,
2046 is a co-production between the Shanghai Film Studio and Jet Tone
Films Ltd. According to director Wong, "The story for 2046 came to
me at the same time as we were working on IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE,
but while some of the characters have similarities, 2046 in not a
sequel." Continuing on he said,"In fact, the feelings and issues that
the characters in 2046 articulate and contend with are deeper and
more sincere requiring a different approach to portraying them. I
found that as I looked around and saw people I knew being in and out
of love, and others never being able to capture or recapture love,
something spoke to me."

"As I thought about what it meant to love and be loved, 2046 is what
came to me. 2046 is about a man who attempts to leave behind his past;
to bury that which he cannot forget yet the burden of what he has to
carry makes it almost impossible to move beyond what he has done and
seen. All of us in a conscious or unconscious way leave behind
memories in order to begin new lives. Some maybe do it only once;
others do it constantly. My film is about such a man whose love was
refused by a woman he loved. Subsequently he turned down the
love of another woman and lost a chance to begin again. He began
unconsciously and for various reasons to reject every new
opportunity to find love. It may sound trite but as we see in 2046,
love truly is a matter of timing."

SYNOPSIS

He was a writer. He thought he wrote about the future but
it really was the past. In his novel, a mysterious train
left for 2046 every once in a while. Everyone who went
there had the same intention... to recapture their lost
memories.
It was said that in 2046, nothing ever changed. Nobody knew
for sure if it was true, because nobody who went there had
ever come back - except for one.
He was there. He chose to leave. He wanted to change.

Overall, this show has got quite a good feel to it and I would recommend it to anyone who likes Wong Kar Wai's films. They've got a strong cast, good acting, nice costumes, nice music and good cinematography. A piece of advice, don't try to decipher everything in the show... just watch it normally, and try to enjoy the show. If you can't figure out everything, then wait for the DVD :) oh, did I forget to mention that it's a 2HR show...or slightly longer? Part of it might be a little draggy due to the story going back and forth and shots focusing on certain characters but I guess we could overlook these minor flaws :p

A comment which I find worth reading:
Date: 30 September 2004
Summary: strong start, but weak finish gets lost in 2046

In 1999, when Wong Kar Wai began shooting SUMMER IN BEIJING, word was already going around that he was at the same time starting work on a film with the working title 2046. Through the grapevine, it was rumored that 2046's plot revolved around Hong Kong 50 years after the 1997 handover. When China announced to the world she was going to reclaim the former British Colony (owing credit to the infamous Opium war and assorted atrocities in the 1800's), it also declared that Hong Kong was to remain sovereign for the first 50 years after the handover. This made for a world of opportunities for Wong Kar Wai to explore and create, for the 6.5 million population in the city were constantly being bombarded by discussions and debates of HK's future on television and assorted media.

2 years later, China becomes a much more viable market for film distribution to the outside world. Film industrialists around the world starts making sure subject matters won't be deemed subversive to China's film board... this continues today.

5 years down the road, SUMMER IN BEIJING never went anywhere, IN THE MOOD OF LOVE (2001) became Wong's trophy picture that shined above all his previous work... that is, until CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON (2001) came along and upstaged Wong both at the Academy Awards, as well as that year's Hong Kong film awards.

What happened to 2046 then? What happened to the cast that supposedly had Bjork starring alongside Maggie Cheung, Tony Leung, Fei Wong, and Japanese pop idol (yet a well qualified actor) Takuya Kimura? What happened to the plot about Hong Kong 50 years after the Turnover back to China?

Pushing all the above aside, I step back into 2046 - the 2004 version, which I'd just watched last night. The film opens with Takuya Kimura's voice over detailing his visit to 2046, and being the only one who has ever decided to leave. He is the lone passenger on the train back to a time which he does not specify. We know there are androids on the train who are either servants to the lone passenger, or perhaps they are en route to their own time as well... we don't know, and it doesn't matter.

The 60 minutes that follow are, to my delight, just as good as any other of Wong's best work in drawing the audience into a world of mystique romantic melancholy. We find out Takuya Kimura the passenger is a fictitious character penned by Tony Leung's character Chow Mo-Wan - a reprise and continuation to the storyline so well built-up in IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE (2001). To make a long story short, his rendezvous with Maggie Cheung in IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE (2001) pushed him into a state of longing for something that "could have been" but never went further than a few intimate moments in the room 2046. Leung's character goes through a series of women in an attempt perhaps to free himself of the pain of having lost Maggie Cheung, which as I would deduce, was at best unrequited love, and if nothing else, the first of the series of affairs he would have after he finds out his wife has left with another man.

In the first act, Tony runs into LuLu (Carina Lau), they have another one of these platonic moments at her room discussing how she's been searching for her true love - a bird with no legs. I must say as a fan of Wong's DAYS OF BEING WILD (1990), I was delighted to see an attempt to actually link these scenes and characters back to a movie he made more than 14 years ago. He even uses the same music made so famous by DAYS OF BEING WILD (1990). Leung's voice-over explains how he first met Lulu back in Singapore. She was a dance-hall girl working there after failing to find her boyfriend - a Chinese man of Filipino descent.

If you've watched DAYS OF BEING WILD (1990), you'll know what I'm getting at. But I'll stop that point here... In any case, I loved this part.

Moving on, we find out Fei Wong is the hotel owner's daughter who's staying at 2046. Tony Leung returns to Hong Kong after another failed fling with gambler BLACK WIDOW (Gong Li)... which by the way is one of the weakest plot-points/links in the film. Leung goes back to the hotel hoping to live in the same room (2046), hoping to relive his memories with Maggie Cheung. The room is now inhabited by Fei Wong, and Leung moves into 2047. It is here at the hotel where he befriends Fei Wong and learns of her father's condemnation of her relationship with Japanese businessman Takuya Kimura. Kimura hopes Fei would leave with him back to Japan... I must say these scenes show us some of the Takuya Kimura finest moments on the silver screen. Members of the audience, and probably fans of Kimura, were actually ooohing and oowing all over the house. Contrary to previous reports of how his screen time is negligible, I must argue that it's not the "duration," but the quality of his scenes and performance that makes his part shine.

Btw, something must have happened between Cheung and Wong Kar Wai. They shot so much, but she's in 3 shots... I speculate some dispute must have taken place to cause this.

Back to the story... Leung meets Zhang Ziyi - another tenant at the hotel who also goes through men like Wong Kar Wai with film stock. They meet, and she ends up falling for him... but only to be rejected.

The rest of the story revels around Leung's flashbacks of Zhang, Gong Li, Fei Wong, and his continuation of the novel 2046, which upon collaboration with Fei Wong (also an aspiring writer in the movie), is later named 2047.

The first half of the movie is fantastic, and serves as a great example of cinema in its most romantic yet subtle form. Visually breath-taking shots, good dialogue, and great music... But what happens toward the last 1/3 of the movie becomes a contrived patchwork of montages, soundbite vignettes that leads us nowhere. I for one, never would argue that a film or story could not close with an open-ending. But this one is just NOT IT. As a fan of Wong's previous work (not including FALLEN ANGEL (1995), that is), and even the most loyal fanatic of IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE would think of the last 1/3 of the movie as convoluted and incomplete like a screening of Wong's daily rushes (if he practices this, that is).

At one point of the story, Leung sends his completed draft of 2047 - the novel, to Fei Wong. Fei Wong writes back with the comment, "the ending is too sad. Can you try to change it to a happier ending?"

We see Leung trying to start with the revision.

This is where I, if ever I had the chance of working with Wong Kar Wai, would suggest:

Keep the scene with Tony Leung trying to write, cut the Intertitles showing passage of time, use all the shots of the women and people Tony Leung have come across and created in the time and moments that affected him, keep the Zhang Ziyi scene at the end, cut the Gongli scene at the end, and close with the movie showing Leung start to write, but on a different sheet of paper, with a smile... He is writing a letter to Fei Wong.

a soundbite from Maggie Cheung's character wouldn't hurt in the above sequence.

Voice-over: "I guess some things just cannot be changed... even in fiction... because I no longer know what it is I have lost."

side-shot of Tony Leung putting the book manuscript back in the envelope. He is smiling as he writes... fade to black.

something like that... or anything but what's there now.

Eat Shit & Die you Biatch!! :D

Read the poor english and have a good laugh (Not as if mine is damn good, but I try my best to make mine sound as normal as possible, not broken :p)

Don't understand why such ppl can't seem to see the truth behind it all.. SHE is the ROOT of the problem. I sure didn't claim much last year. And I sure didn't want to argue with ignorant ppl. She's the one who's being mental and always creating unnecessary stress/problems for us. Oh well, I'm not going to waste anymore time with her. Shall tender my resignation at the end of this mth. Oh, just so you know.. I haven't been getting any increment nor AWS/bonuses since 2002. *pathetic* >_< And I start work late to justify my working hrs vs my pay :P hehe

Anyways I think that I'll be better off working as a freelancer or working in other company. Wish me all the best in my job search!

...Since we have such a list of pending uncomplete job, also customers may think otherwise our service getting worst. Therefore I would appreicate if you guys can be puntual for work (meaning starting work 10:30am or earlier if possible, not leaving house only at 10:30am or later)... and also please make morning appt start at 10:30 not later. In order for we to accept and be prepared for new orders taking in, let start early and be puntual, if we continue start later and finish at 6pm or.... later, how much work can we finish.

Our business and income come from services, when people come to us, they need the computer urgently and need our service immediately, if we can't do it (due to we have pending jobs to be done). There are so many ppl like us in the market and are willing to take the service, so why wait for us for 1 or 2 or later date. Please also note that not everybody will keep waiting for us patiently (there are also people like us out there with much better service). Market are bad, everybody are fightly and rush for the same piece of cake, if you are fast and good the cake is yours. Please help us to help you keep your employment, since last year the income come in only pays both of you salary and CPF excluding your claims. There is no reasons, why should I keep the company just only to keep job for both of you. Why should I work so hard and I have to grumble so much, pushing you guys so much and dislike by me being so "meow". I think since the last 1 or 2 years, I now have enough of all these nagging and pushing and aruging (neither me like to do that to cause high blood pressure and stress for myself) and it since only myself and Daniel fighting, seriously I can't fight or win a war without supporting and appreciated troops.

Therefore your understanding is greatly appreciated and thank you for your co-operation.

No Subject

This is damn crappy... it's already 1 week past October and my big day is coming up in another 16 days. Haven't even thought of what I'm going to do, who to call, and where to go. Argh.. my initial plan is to have a drinking session on Friday(22nd) and Dinner on Sunday(24th) mainly because mushroom won't be back till Saturday nite from HKG.

On a lighter note, I found my old webbie!!!! It was done in 1997 (I think..?) and later shifted to geocities in 2001 but I totally forgot about it until yesterday when I was fumbling thru yahoo for online storage space and found that it still exists and is still online.. hahaha.. happy yah? Damn simple n darn ugly... still remembered learning about HTML online and typing out the codes, line by line in notepad. Don't laff when you see it ok? Not everyone can churn out good work on their first attempt and considering the standards at that time (basic html n frames), I think it's good enough for any beginner oredi :D

Looking at those photos really brings back the memories.. some crossed paths with me and disappeared soon after. Some are still around but seldom see each other while some gave me heartaches. Overall, they're memories which I'll treasure ;)

Mushroom sounds sad tonight.. she's got lotsa things on her mind and is feeling shitty and doesn't know how to solve them. I wanna be of help but she's reluctant to tell me her problems.. how? Guess I'll just have to slowly lead her to tell me everything. K, that's enough for tonite.. will update again soon

What's your Colour?

HASH(0x8aea278)
You are purple. What a romantic person you are.
You're sentimental and forward-looking (those
are opposites.). You're a sophisticated and
refined--with a refind taste for chocolates and
wine (yum...). Tempermental and moody, you let
people know when you're angry. But other
times, you just sit and sulk. Alone. When
around people, you're a generous person, with
insatiable needs. You're a starving artist,
basically. You're enjoy getting into debates
over politics and religion with people of the
same intelligence of you. But you know they
can never convince you otherwise, you stubborn
person, you. As a unique person you are (not
to mention just a tad bit eccentric...), you're
well-liked by either a few people, or too many
people...

What color are you? (Amazingly detailed & accurate--with pics!)

The Art of T-Shirt Folding

This is even better than those folding devices which boasts of folding your clothes in under 5 seconds. But I guess the secret technique below is only applicable to T-shirts -_-;

  1. Start by laying the Tshirt flat and sideways in front of you, neck opening to your right. Find the centerpoint on the far side and pinch it with your left hand, about two inches in from the far edge.

  2. With your right hand, draw a line from your left hand to the right edge of the tshirt, parallel to the edge of the shirt. This brings your right hand to the neck-opening side of the shirt. Grasp the edge with your right hand.

  3. Now while maintaining your grip, cross your right hand over your left, towards the opposite (waist-opening) end of the tshirt. Maintain the same imaginary line you've been working on (about two inches from the far edge of the thsirt, parallel to the edge) and add the new edge to the grasp of your right hand.

  4. This is where the magic happens. Simply uncross your hands and extend them in front of you, lifting the shirt perpendicular to the floor.

  5. Complete the fold by letting the loose arm hole drop to the floor and folding the shirt in half over it!

  6. Breathe deeply and contemplate the terrible beauty you have wrought.

    Arghhhh!!!!

    Fuck FUck FuCk FucK FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last night, my computer went blank for no apparent reason.. I mean the monitor's working fine (I've tested it) but nothing shows up on screen.

    I guess there's only 2 possiblities now:

    1) My graphic card is spoilt

    OR

    2) My mainboard is screwed

    I really hope it's the first one, cos my previous experience with exchanging/replacing mainboard took more than 2 months! Can you believe it? And it was supposed to be fast already considering the amount of emails and phonecalls I've been shooting at the "friendly" people at corbell.. they're goddamn "helpful" I would say.. -_-;

So anyways, I managed to fix up a spare comp for temporary usage but I feel that it's sooooooooo slow (Pentium III 866Mhz) compared to the current one (Pentium 4 2.66Ghz) *Sigh* shall not complain too much now, will have to go office tomorrow and take back my spare graphic card to test it... really hope it'll work *cross fingers*!!

This morning was din's ROM day. Woke up late (due to fixing up of my spare comp) and was nearly late becos the blur taxi driver missed the turn before Funan. But luckily I managed to arrive on time.. 1153hrs to be exact (their appointment was at 1155hrs). After that, went inside.. watch them exchange their vows, put on their rings, pronounced Mr & Mrs Cheng and then took a few photos and went down to Regent Hotel to have buffet. Then we ate for almost 3hrs before deciding to go to Centrepoint to look at curtains. After which, more walking.. window shopping.. Tangs Studio was having some sale and Mango got new clothes.. in the end, sat down at coffeebean for a drink with jackson, his sister, din and amy.

Lastly it was down to Dempsy Road to look at furnitures and jackson's sis wanted to eat durian (she thinks of me as her durian buddy ?!? Cos when she asked me whether I eat durian or not and I said yes, and she went like,"oh great! finally found someone to eat durian with me!!" (double DUH) not that I've a craving for durians anyway.. but I shall not be rude. In the end, turns out that the stall at Dempsy Rd wasn't open *phew* and so we went home. Hah.. I guess I really summarized todae's events quite well... shall go for dinner now, can't stand this spare comp.. blardy slowwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!

    I'll Be Back...

4 Things He Doesn't Dare Tell You

No matter how many conversations and Q&A sessions you've shared, every guy has certain details about his life that he considers off-limits -- even to you. Learning about them now can actually help you understand him better and keep you from freaking out if you accidentally trip on them one day. So at the risk of being hunted down, killed, and dried for jerky by my fellow males, I reveal the hidden truths your man doesn't want you to know.

    1. He has a stash of porn.
I know what you're thinking: "Not my man." But it's a cold hard fact: Even the nicest guys like nasty entertainment. "Porn lets me explore sexual avenues that are unavailable to me in real life," says Adam, a bona fide nice guy from Washington, D.C.

Not convinced? Do the math. Triple-X films are a multibillion-dollar-a-year industry. That's about one video for every grown-up man and woman in America. But when was the last time you plunked down a piece of your paycheck for Jurassic Pork or Snatch Adams? My point exactly -- your significant other is buying enough for the both of you.

    2. He wants more oral sex.
Okay. You know he loves it, but you might not have any idea just how much. Men are simple creatures with three basic needs: food, shelter, and blow jobs. But he won't ask for more for fear of seeming self-centered. "I'm afraid that making that request would probably be the end not only of oral sex but of all sex," says Eric from New York City. So treat oral sex like a vitamin, and give it to him once a day. He's sure to repay the favor.

    3. He hates it when you're more successful than he is.
Even if he said he was proud of you when you landed that paycheck-fattening raise or corner-office promotion, he's pissed that you're moving on up faster than the Jeffersons.

See, guys are supposed to be the breadwinners, but now women are often earning just as much money and respect as men are, if not more. And this growing gender equality is doing a Lorena Bobbitt on his psyche.

But he'll never confide this to you. Any guy who revealed his not-so-progressive feelings would risk coming off like a Neanderthal. Until we get over this (yes, sexist) attitude, try not to flaunt the fact that you're in a higher tax bracket.

    4. He's more loyal to you than he is to his buddies.
Never mind what you've heard. The only thing guys talk about in the locker room is sports. In general, men are far more zip-lipped about intimate sexual details than you think we are -- especially if we care about you. "It's better to smile and let them imagine what must have happened," says Steve from Boston.

We're less interested in bragging about our bedroom exploits in the spirit of male bonding than we are about deepening our bond with you. But don't expect your man to divulge this secret. Men are taught to stick together. By choosing you, we've betrayed our own kind. And that's just something we'd rather not admit -- to anyone.

Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman

    To really love a woman
    To understand her
You gotto know her deep inside
    Hear every thought
    See every dream
N' give her wings when she wants to fly
Then when you find yourself lying helpless in her arms
You know you really love a woman

    When you love a woman
You tell her that she's really wanted
    When you love a woman
You tell her that she's the one
Cos she needs somebody to tell her that it's gonna last forever
So tell me have you ever really, really really ever loved a woman?

    To really love a woman
    Let her hold ya
Till you know how she needs to be touched
    You gotto breathe her
    Really taste her
Till you can feel her in your blood
N' when you can see your unborn children in her eyes
You know you really love a woman

    When you love a woman
You tell her that she's really wanted
    When you love a woman
You tell her that she's the one
Cos she needs somebody to tell her that you'll always be together
So tell me have you ever really, really really ever loved a woman?

You got to give her some faith
    Hold her tight
    A little tenderness
    You gotto treat her right
She will be there for you
    Taking good care of you
You really got to love your woman

And when you find yourself lying helpless in her arms
You know you really love a woman

    When you love a woman
You tell her that she's really wanted
    When you love a woman
You tell her that she's the one
Cos she needs somebody to tell her that it's gonna last forever
So tell me have you ever really, really really ever loved a woman?
Just tell me have you ever really, really really ever loved a woman..

One of my favourite tracks from Bryan Adams.. passé? Nah I don't think so, great tunes grow better through time.. just like good wines :) I didn't really watch Don Juan DeMarco, only caught parts of it. But I like the way the story goes, with Johnny Depp as Don Juan (John DeMarco)... some people say that the ending is abit ambiguous cos it wasn't clear whether was he, or was he not Don Juan. IMO he's just delusional but I really guess it's not important afterall.. life is what you make of it. Either you can be cynical or you can embrace the beauty of the world. That's what Don Juan is, he's a physical representation of Passion in it's purest form (minus the claim that he had 1500 lovers -_-; ) So whether you choose "reality" over "fantasy" or vice versa, it simply depicts what your state of mind is now. Darn.. makes me feel like getting the dvd :)

Women are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the
tree. Most men don't want to reach for the good ones because they
are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they just get the
rotten apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy .... So
the apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in
reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right man
to come along, the one who's brave enough to climb all the way to
the top of the tree. Share with other women who are good apples, even
those who have already been picked!

    And ...

Men are like a fine wine. They start out as grapes, and it's up to
women to stomp the crap out of them until they turn into something
    acceptable to have dinner with.

    Currently listening to ...

    I wanna stay
    Or stay away
    I wanna stay
    Oh 最真最美丽的童年
    我stay
    I wanna stay
    Or stay away

Open Relationships - The Pros n Cons

Having an O.R might not be as easy as you might have heard. The advantages are obvious.. you are both free to sleep with anyone you find attractive and do it without guilt or fear of being found out. You enjoy each other's company, you have alot in common, and you love each other. It's like having your cake and eating it too, in every flavour you crave. An O.R really can be ideal.. if you can manage it.

But life is rarely ideal, an O.R may require more work than a normal one. The biggest obstacle most people faced would be "Jealousy". Jealousy stems from insecurity, fearing that we are unworthy or not as worthy(attractive, itelligent, successful) as someone else. We all want to be liked, even if we claim otherwise. We want to be respected for not giving a damn, for being ourselves. And no matter how confident we may be, we all deal with insecurity to a certain extent. Some people are so consumed with feelings of inadequacy that jealousy is the dominant force in their lives. Their relationships are battlefields, constant competitions in which everyone loses because those inflicted with feelings of inferiority are too insecure to be satisfied with equality. They strive to feel superior which requires dominance and control.

Even those with a rather positive self-image are susceptible to jealousy. No matter how attractive, intelligent or successful we are, there will always be someone whom we think has us beaten in one or more departments. Can your relationship survive if you feel that your partner might prefer someone else to you?

These and other questions will have to be asked and thoroughly answered before a successful O.R is possible.. like questions of commitment, love and emotional bond in your relationship.

Overall, relationships take alot of work. Sometimes an O.R is nothing more than a way to avoid the responsibilities that are a natural part of sharing your life with another person. An O.R, though promising freedom, can also offer escape. And there is a difference.. if you see an O.R as a quick-fix to a problem neither of you are willing to discuss or believe that it's beyond repair, then it's purely an escape.. it'll never result in genuine freedom. But if freedom is what you seek from an O.R, and you and your partner are willing to give it a try, know what you both hope to accomplish. Look both ways before crossing the road or you'll never make it to the other side.

Just remember the golden rule if you want to opt for an O.R - "When it's time to let go, let it go." Don't cling on to your partner like a parasite, hoping that it's possible for a 2nd chance, when your partner wants to end the whole O.R. That's not how the game is supposed to be played.

Kudos to Brian from Date.com for providing the interesting article on The Pros and Cons of an Open Relationship , thus making this possible :)

    Love Will Keep Us Alive

    I was standing
All alone against the world outside
    You were searching
    For a place to hide

    Lost and lonely
Now you've given me the will to survive
When we're hungry.. love will keep us alive

    Don't you worry
Sometimes you've just gotta let it ride
    The world is changing
    Right before your eyes

    Now I've found you
    There's no more emptiness inside
When we're hungry.. love will keep us alive

    I would die for you
    Climb the highest mountain
    Baby, there's nothing I wouldn't do

    I was standing
All alone against the world outside
    You were searching
    For a place to hide
    Lost and lonely
Now you've given the will to survive
When we're hungry.. love will keep us alive
When we're hungry.. love will keep us alive
When we're hungry.. love will keep us alive

    Boring Saturday afternoon

    I wanna fall asleep but I can't
    I wanna catch a show but I can't
What fun is it when you watch a show alone
What good is it when you go out alone

    Put down all your baggages
    Put down all your heart
Just go out and spend your day
    Alone in the park

    Having this said
It looks like it's going to rain
I'll try and go to bed
    Then do this over again

*gosh... damn cheesy if I say so myself :p*

    The Origin..

    Name:Setzer

OK, here's some more speculation. "Setzer" by itself means "typesetter" (hardly a meaningful name). But the German expression used when betting on numbers or horses is "setzen"! For example, "10 Mark auf Nummer 23 setzen" means "bet 10 Marks on number 23". So "Setzer" could imply "the one who puts down the money -> "gambler"; though I've never heard the word "Setzer" used to mean "gambler". Anyway, it's still nice-sounding even if it's a coincidence. It's my single favorite character name in the entire FF series.

    My Best Friend's Wedding - Part 1

This is the first time that I'm involved in a wedding other than eating n drinking. I'm in charged of coming up with ideas for games n stuff when the groom comes over.. hah thank god I'm not one of the "brothers".. must think of something to tekan them.. if not the groom :p *rubbing hands in glee*

Went to one of the bridal shop along Tras Street yesterday evening to accompany Din, and her sisters to check it out.. the gowns were so-so n so were the service.. and the prices they charged were quite high too. But she look so nice in a wedding dress.. I guess everyone would look nice anyways. Later jack came along to "provide" his opinions.. the poor man even tried to bribe me, saying that he'll give big ang pows for the "sisters" and to let him off easily ... *fat hope* I'll take a big angpow but will still torture u. Ha Ha.. who ask u to marry my best friend!

After which, couldn't really decide to take up the package from Ted Wu or not, so off we went for dinner at Great World, n later across the road to Karen's place for further discussions. But at the end of the day, nothing was decided.. backdrops for the wedding, theme of the wedding, wedding favours, dinner venue (deciding between good wood or intercon), guest list, invitation cards..etc haha damn jialat. But will meet again this evening to brainstorm on the different torture methods we can come up with... Must have at least 2 plans just in case.. hehe.. so exciting!!

    -continuation-

Urrghhhhhhh... dat day ask u whether when will you be free to meet n u said today, now ask u wat time you wanna meet u tell me say u dun think so.. cos very tired n going KL tomorrow for ur holiday.. how lame can it get? I really wonder... do you even care about your friend's wedding? Fuck it.. I can do this on my own. Out of courtesy I want ur opinions, since u dun bother, I'm not going to be bothered with you too. _|_

    Horoscope

    Capricorn
    December 22-January 19

There is a rumor that Capricorns are the best lovers of the zodiac when they feel stable and secure and can see the long term purpose of the union they are in. The focused determination of Saturn as a guiding light brings the same unequaled force into the bedroom and into the relationship as they apply to building their life and their security. Capricorn is slow to trust and even slower to love but once their heart is given there is very little they won't do
to back up and support and love their mate.

The symbolism of Capricorn is the Seagoat...a useful metaphor is the ability to penetrate both environments on earth water and land. Spiritually...they can conquer both the spirit and the body. Love is nothing less than a goal and they are capable of approaching it with the same dedication as they approach any other important endeavor in their life.

They are loyal, nurturing caregivers and supporters at their best. Cold, calculating and emotionally repressed at their worst. The realm of feelings is the hardest plane for Capricorns to come to terms with as it is based on an energy that they cannot control . Once they accept and embrace their emotional beings they are human dynamos who add strength, conviction and longevity to love.

    Capricorn Sexuality
When they are secure within themselves and within a partnership they can take their lover to the peaks of sexual mountaintops.

They know how to apply patience and dedication to discovering how to please and their leisurely approach to getting to know a mates intimate secrets promises that they possess an almost push button control of their partners sexual desires.

It is not the pure and raw driving sexuality of Scorpio...nor the romantic and enchanting passion of Libra...it is a combination of the human physical need for sex and the spirits need to experience the height of a pleasure and to merge it into one. A soul moving encounter that brings the primal...into the spiritual.

    The Long Term Story
Capricorns require patience and dedication. They are often shy and awkward in their emotions early on growing in strength and acceptance the longer they stay within a union.

They need to have a purpose behind their actions and a purpose behind the relationship. They take the initial investment of heart to the building of a long term commitment with the same serious intent that they conquer all their mountains in life.

They can be domineering and cold if they are not in touch with their feeling centers. Materialistic and self serving as well. Once committed most Capricorns stay committed as they are bound to a sense of responsibility. It takes a lot to sever a serious Capricorn tie but once it is severed...they can be vengeful and hateful.

They are not always the best judge of character and so let downs and relationship break ups become personal mistakes that they often repress and refuse to accept. They provide one of the most secure and empowering bonds when they are completely in love.

    Positive Traits in Love
Loyal, dedicated, patient, kind, generous, supportive, serious, dependable, tolerant, attentive.

    Negative Traits
Possessiveness, control, coldness and aloofness, lack of emotional tolerance or depth, materialistic, narrow minded, vindictive, bitter, melancholy.

    What a Capricorn Likes
Loyalty, Feeling secure, Financial/material stability, Ambitious mates, Feeling committed, Making long term relationship plans Dependability, Reliability, Perseverance

    What a Capricorn Dislikes
Flightiness, Being bossed around, Crudeness/coarseness, Dominance, Game playing, Ego displays, Extravagance Being challenged by a lover, Indecisiveness

    Capricorn Love Keywords
Loyal, ambitious, dedicated, focused, honesty, disciplined, severe, possessive, controlling, cold, calculating

Sharing some thoughts about the big "L"

Love is not about "it's your fault", but "I'm sorry"; not "where are you' but "I'm right here"; not "how could you" but "I understand"; not "I wish you were", but "I'm thankful you are."

    ENGAGED
The True measure of compatibility is not the years spent together but how good you are for each other.

    NOT-SO-SINGLE
Those who have "special someone" .... Love isn't about becoming somebody else's "perfect person." It's about finding someone who helps you become the best person you can be.

    HEARTBROKEN
Heartbreaks last as long as you want and cut deep as you allow them to go. The challenge is not how to survive heartbreaks but to learn from them.

    NAIVE
How to be in love: Fall but don't stumble; be consistent but not too persistent, share and never be unfair, understand and try not to demand, and get hurt but never keep the pain.

    POSSESSIVE
It breaks your heart to see the one you love happy with someone else but it's more painful to know that the one you love is unhappy with you.

    AFRAID TO CONFESS
Love hurts when you break up with someone. It hurts even more when someone breaks up with you. But love hurts the most when the person you love has no idea how you feel.

    STILL HOLDING ON
A sad thing about life is that when you meet someone who means a lot to you, only to find out in the end that it was never bound to be and we just have to let go.

    SINGLE
Love is like a butterfly. The more you chase it, the more it eludes you. But if you just let it fly, it would come to you when you least expect it. Love can make you happy but oftentimes it hurts, but love's only special when you give it to whom it's worth. So take your time and choose the best. : )

    With This Day

    They say take a chance
    Live life on the edge
    Never look back
    Look forward instead

    Don't worry, be happy
To thine own self be true
    Live life to the fullest
    Do what you must do

    Live in the present
    Let go of the past
    Give it all you've got
    Make the good times last

    Stop and smell the roses
    Give each person a smile
'Tis the first day of your life
    So make it worthwhile

Yet, some of us hear this

    Today's just a present
    That's been given to you

It can be gone in an instant
    It could be taken away
So, take good care not to miss out
On what you could do with this day.

Argh... blardy wallpaper... I'll go find something else... but for now... that'll have to do.
